In 1957 after spending 7 years as an apprentice butcher in Smithfield Market, London, England, Colin Carroll came to Canada. Using his expertise he opened �Colin Carroll & Sons Butchers" in the York Farmers Market in Thornhill. Eager to follow in his father�s footsteps, Stuart Carroll began working in the store part time at age 11.
The name was changed to “Stuart Carroll Quality Meats” in 1984 when Colin handed the reins to his son, who then proceeded to take this small market stall from it’s beginnings as a basic butcher shop, and evolved it into a gourmet food shopping experience.
In 1989 a second retail store was opened in Brampton and a third store in downtown Markham, opened in November 2005.
